About my Ride

1969 Factory Big Bad Blue Javelin. 390 V8, Super T-10 4 speed, factory Hurst shifter, Twin Grip (posi) 3:54 gears. Done in Trans Am racer look with 15X7 front and 15X8 rear Mini Lite wheels and 225X60 front, 245X60 rear BFG Radial TA tires. Mod Pac top spoiler with aftermarket front group 19 spoiler and a 1970 rear spoiler. A vintage Talbot outside rear view mirror replaces the factory mirror. Car has been lowered via front lowering plates and rear lowering blocks and has AMX Enterprises front and rear sway bars with KYB shocks. Upgraded later model vented manual 11" disc front and 10" rear drum brakes. Power steering and tilt wheel with a black 3 spoke Grant GT steering wheel. Under the hood I have added double triangle bracing to stiffen it up. The 390 has Edelbrock R4B intake manifold (think Z-28 dual plane manifold) with factory casting/part numbers which was part of the Group 19 AMC high performance/racing stuff, and a Holley 4160 carb. 2.5" true dual exhaust with H pipe. No car is ever truly done, but everything works from the vintage Marchal driving lights to the back-up lights except the radio which I removed and replaced with a block off plate because I like the exhaust note better than the tunes. Has factory tach and 140MPH speedometer which is dead on accurate. Even the clock keeps excellent time. Car weights just over 2900 lbs. I actually drive the car, not daily but on 1000 mile or more trips to Road America in Elkhart Lake WI and to Estes Park Colorado. It has enough trunk room to take the female of choice on a road trip with the usual stuff they seem to need to bring along. It handled great in the twisties up in Rocky Mountain National Park. Auto X it sometimes too just for the fun of it. Gas mileage is about 15 MPG at 75 on the interstate. The most often asked question I get at cruise night or when on a road trip is "What is it?" Not just another belly button Camaro or Mustang, not that there is anything wrong with them, just many show up at an event but only one Javelin or maybe an AMX will be there and get lots of lookers. Just my experience your mileage may vary.

Thank you but the car is not a "show car" I do drive it as you saw. Estes Park was so busy that weekend and there was a motorcycle thing going on in Loveland and there were a ton of bikers around. Except for a little rain every day it was a nice trip with the female of choice.

Hey I saw your car up in Estes on Labor Day weekend. Wow I can't believe it is in here. I think it looks better in real life than in the pics. I was looking at it thinking that it must live close by and when I saw the license plate was from Nebraska I was blown away thinking somebody really drives their show car. My buddy had me take his pic standing by it, he didn't know what it was until I told him the little I know about AMCs. Just really wanted to tell you what a nice car you have!!!!

Thank you maybe an outlet like this will allow others to see that AMC made some neat cars back in the day.

Thanks I really enjoy this car it is great fun to drive and always gets a thumbs up when I drive it. Been more fun than lots of the cars I have owned over the years. Just getting started on building a warmed over 401 to put in it but not over cammed or over carbed or all the stuff that ruins the ability to actually drive the car and have fun with it.

Great looking Javelin. Nice to see one that is actually driven and autoXed and isn't just another drag racer.
