About my Mustang

It came from the factory as a basic 4 cylinder standard shift plain jane white mustang. I purchased it for $450 off the road side. It had a seriously cobbed up small block 302 auto, but it was very straight overall so I thought it would make a nice budjet build-up. After stripping the car only to find rusted floors beyond belief I decided to go all the way and build a full chassis car. (I love to fabricate.)The budget went from 10 grand to 22k. After removing all the floors, firewall, dash, glass and front clip I thought for a moment that I had lost my mental integrity and my friends were right, I had gone crazy. But after drinking a couple dozen beers (so I would know what crazy really felt like) I decided to continue. Little did I know that I had caught a fever to build one bad little Ford. Soon the dream of Big Block Ford hit me and so it became the Big Block Fox Project. I purchased a 460 with a c-6 for mach up purposes and started planning. I wanted to keep the four-eyed creature some what tame looking so I Stayed with the factory white paint and the basic LX look. I also wanted to use the factory hood with a true shaker air box. I did not want anything hanging down under the car so the floor was raised 4 inches. This allowed room for 3 inch exhaust to go all the way out the back of the car. I built the front frame structure to accept after market fox front struts, rack, spindles and brakes. Everything (the axle line) had to be moved foward 5.5 inches and the fire wall 8 inches back to make room for the big block. I wanted the engine down and back into the car and not up on the front axle line. This also gave the car a better scale. This Fox had a lot of nose out front so the fender well openings were moved foward to go along with the scheme which made the car look better in its new lower stance. Very few mustang people have noticed the stretch. A nine inch rear was utilized with coil overs and a custom 4 link control arm set-up. All the work was done by my self in a regular two car attached garage at my home. The only thing I did not do was shoot the Ford YZ Dupont white paint which my son handled for me in his body shop. Weight came in at 3000 lbs and scaled at 50/50. I have not tested it at the track so far but I do expect it will run into the 9's. Since I'm a mechanic I designed it to be wrench friendly. Everything is easy to get to. Nothing on the car is squeezed. Nothing rubs or hangs down. Clean and mean. Many top trophys since completion. Check it out.
