About my 280SEL

1971 Mercedes Benz 280SEL with had the 2.8L mechanical fuel injected 6 cylinder But something had to be done about the lack of horsepower and cost of parts for repairs. So that's when the decision to up the cool factor and easy on the wallet for repairs when such a situation comes around, so the mad scientists brain storm begins with stuffing a Chevy power train into this well built German vehicle. Engine is now a 40 over 350 with 435 lift cam and roller rockers with a serpentine belt system and for the transmission a 700r4. And the looks on the faces when trying to get a drive shaft made to fit the factory rear axle flange was priceless, but no problem for the local machine shop. Car now has about 3 times the power according to the seat of the pants meter. Car drives awesome and the look on people's mugs when the skinny pedal is mashed. Next getting the a/c lines made up. Frankenbenze fits this car perfect and I do believe the German engineers are turning over in their graves.
